In July, Eric Moerman of Sioux Center, Iowa, was elected as 1st Vice Chair of the American Public Power Association's Policy Makers Council (PMC). Members of the PMC meet twice a year in Washington, D.C., and at least once a month by Zoom. In addition to Moerman, MRES has two other officials from member communities serving on the PMC: Spencer Hawley from Brookings, South Dakota, and Madalyn Sukke from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Hawley and Moerman were able to attend the July PMC meeting in person, spending time with congressional representatives from their respective states. They were joined by MRES President and CEO Matt Schull, Vice President of Government Relations Deb Birgen, Government Relations Liaison Kersten Johnson, and Member Services Representative Jody Peck. Representatives from member communities also participating in the meetings were Sioux Center Municipal Utilities Manager Murray Hulstein and Brookings Utilities General Manager Steve Meyer.
