Missouri River Energy Services recognizes Denison Municipal Utilities (DMU) as a Public Power Champion. DMU recently provided the Denison High School Academic Decathlon team with a tour of the water and wastewater treatment plants. The Denison High School team participates in the Iowa Academic Decathlon, which is a division of United States Academic Decathlon®.
Academic decathlon teams participate in a competition comprised of 10 events. Students from large and small schools around the state compete for awards, advancement and scholarships. Preparation usually begins in August at the beginning of the school year and continues through the scrimmage in December, regional competition in January, state competition in March, and national competition in April.

It might be a manager who demonstrates exceptional leadership and dedication to public power. A Public Power Champion might be a utility that has participated in good neighbor activities, hosted educational opportunities, or shown an extraordinary commitment to the local community.
