Powering with Nuclear

Nuclear power plays an important role in our power supply portfolio. MRES receives 33.8 MW of nuclear power from the Point Beach Nuclear Plant located near Two Rivers, Wisconsin, as part of a 20-year agreement with WPPI Energy. The agreement provides MRES with diversification in generation fuel source as well as plant location. Point Beach has two 595-MW generating units.

To provide more energy options, MRES continues to expand power sources beyond traditional fossil fuels and natural resources to ensure a diverse portfolio of energy power for our members and communities.

Nuclear energy is considered to be a more sustainable energy source for the future with less carbon emissions than fossil fuels. Nuclear energy also decreases reliance on imported energy and depletion of natural resources.
